National health insurance support for continuous glucose monitors and automatic insulin infusion devices, previously available only to type 1 diabetes patients, is being expanded to about 11,000 people with severe type 2 diabetes such as pancreatic impairment and islet failure. The level of insulin pump support for ages 19-34 will be made the same as for children. Savings of about KRW 4,180,000 per year.
