Benefit
If a working low-income young person saves KRW 100,000-500,000 per month, the government supports KRW 300,000 per month. At 3-year maturity, at least KRW 14.4 million plus interest including KRW 3.6 million of your own savings (up to 5% a year reported). Requires 10 hours of self-reliance training and a fund use plan. The period during which savings can be paused is extended from 6 to 12 months (2026).
Who is eligible
Ages 15-39 (50% of median or below bracket), young people in households at or below 50% of the standard median income with earned or business income of KRW 100,000 or more per month.
When to apply
Recruited once a year. The 2026 recruitment closed 5/4-5/20, and 24,000 enrollees were selected by 9/30. Next recruitment in 2027 (not yet announced).
How to apply
Bokjiro (복지로) https://www.bokjiro.go.kr or the administrative welfare center (행정복지센터) at your address.
Important notes
2026 applications closed. Check the 2027 recruitment notice (usually in the first half of the year).
Note
2026 recruitment is reported to target those at or below 50% of median income (including recipients and near-poverty group). New enrollment in the 50-100% bracket (KRW 100,000 monthly support) is reported suspended for 2026 – needs confirmation. At maturity, you must have kept working for 24 months or more.
