- Benefit
- Supports the copayment portion of test, treatment and surgery costs up to KRW 1.2 million per knee (up to KRW 2.4 million for both knees). For patients meeting the national health insurance criteria for knee joint replacement. Private room fees, non-covered items and spending before selection are excluded.
- Who is eligible
- Basic livelihood recipients, near-poverty group and single-parent families aged 60 or older who need joint replacement surgery.
- When to apply
- Apply anytime during the year (before surgery).
- How to apply
- Apply at the public health center (보건소) or its branch (보건지소) with a diagnosis or medical opinion (within 1 month) → approval by the Senior Medical Sharing Foundation (02-711-6599, ok6595.or.kr).
- Important notes
- Surgery not allowed before the selection notice; submit cost receipts after surgery.
- Note
- Run by the Senior Medical Sharing Foundation (노인의료나눔재단) (commissioned by the Ministry of Health and Welfare). No support if surgery is done before the selection notice.
