Who is eligible
Pregnant women who are Medical Aid recipients
When to apply
Apply after receiving a pregnancy or childbirth confirmation certificate from a medical institution. The voucher can be used from the date of the support decision until 2 years after the expected delivery date (or actual childbirth date).
How to apply
After receiving the pregnancy or childbirth confirmation certificate from a medical institution, apply at the city/county/district office (eup/myeon/dong community service center (행정복지센터)) -> registered as an eligible person with the National Health Insurance Service -> use with the National Happiness Card (국민행복카드)
Important notes
Use within 2 years from the date of the support decision up to the expected delivery date (childbirth date); the remaining balance expires after that
Note
For Medical Aid (의료급여) recipients, the amount is about KRW 1,000,000, the same as the national health insurance pregnancy/childbirth medical expense voucher, but applications go through the city/county/district office (including the eup/myeon/dong office). Details of the multiple-birth amount need official confirmation on the Medical Aid page (national health insurance basis: KRW 1,400,000 plus an additional amount). Receiving this together with the national health insurance voucher appears not to be allowed, but the official wording has not been confirmed.
