Who is eligible
Men and women expected to become permanently infertile for medical reasons (ovary or testis removal, chemotherapy, etc.) such as those under Article 14 of the Enforcement Decree of the Mother and Child Health Act.
When to apply
When permanent loss of reproductive function is expected due to chemotherapy, ovary or testis removal, etc., apply within 6 months after the germ cells are retrieved (frozen).
How to apply
Freeze at a medical institution and pay the cost in advance, then apply at the public health center (보건소) at your registered address (or via e-Public Health Center (e보건소)). Paid within 1 month after application.
Important notes
Covers retrievals from Jan. 1, 2025; apply within 6 months of the retrieval date. The program began Apr. 28, 2025.
Note
Up to KRW 2,000,000 for women, up to KRW 300,000 for men. No limits on age, income, or marital status. Elective egg freezing (social freezing) by generally healthy people is not covered by this program.
