When to apply
Maternity leave is 90 days before and after childbirth (100 days for premature births, 120 days for multiples), spouse childbirth leave 20 days (25 days for multiples), pregnancy checkup leave within 10 days, maternity protection time within 2 hours per day (approval mandatory within 12 weeks of pregnancy or after 32 weeks), and childcare time up to 2 hours per day within a 36-month range (child aged 8 or in second grade or lower).

Civil servants are subject to the Civil Servant Service Regulations, not employment insurance. Spouse childbirth leave for civil servants was expanded from 10 days to 20 days effective Feb. 11, 2025 (korea.kr policy news). Confirm with the personnel department of your agency.
